People’s Choice Competition

Everyone attending the BBQ competition on Saturday will have a chance to “put your money where your mouth is” and judge delicious BBQ from the professional teams. You will learn the secrets of official BBQ judges and the criteria they use when judging to determine for yourself who’s butt is the best.

How it works: All professional competition teams are required to submit a Boston butt on Saturday morning. Volunteers from the Shriners will place the meat in samples portions for you to taste.  You will vote for the meat based on the criteria you’ve learn from the professional judges including best appearance, texture and, of course, taste. Your vote will be tallied and the team with the most votes win.  The  People’s Choice Winner will be announced during the main award ceremony at 6:00pm on the main stage.

When? Judging for the People’s Choice begins at Noon on Saturday August 24^th

Where: In the Grand Ol’ Porker Arena.

What the Cost: $5.00 per sample. Each sample includes BBQ from five (5) teams.

Proceeds from the Peoples Choice benefit the Shriners Childrens Hospitals.
